Welcome, Michael & Kassie!

A new AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, Kathryn “Kassie” DeMarsh will be responsible for administering the new ACCESS program, developed by Gabi and Jessica (see above). Kassie is a graduate of the University of Oregon and has worked with children in many capacities including as a helper in a relief nursery and a ski instructor for kids. Click here to learn more about the ACCESS program.

Michael Finlay, our new Volunteer Program and Special Events Coordinator, will be creating opportunities for our community partners and families to help out with various volunteer projects and activities at Discovery Village. He will also be responsible for putting together special events throughout the year. Michael comes to us from Western Oregon University where he worked in volunteer recruitment, training and retention. He is also a former AmeriCorps VISTA member. Click here to learn more about volunteer opportunities at the museum.

We need your help!

While a child's imagination is limitless, our supply of recyclables is not.

The Toy Inventor's Workshop here at A.C. Gilbert's Discovery Village relies on donated items to keep our inventive little visitors busy. We're running low on these critical materials:

· Small plastic containers
· Baby food jars
· Corks
· Buttons
· Plastic jewels
· Small square colorful tile
· Film canisters (sorry, we cannot take prescription bottles)
· 2 liter pop bottles
· Toilet paper tubes
· Paint stirrer sticks
· Artificial flowers
· Ribbons
· Fabric scraps

Please round up what you can and hurry over to the children's museum during open hours to make your donation. If you ever have any questions about whether a donation is appropriate, please give us a call at 503-371-3631.
